okay so lately i’ve been pretty excited because this year some of the old school groups were set to release an album during the fourth quarter.
For example, Camp Lo released an album called Another Heist with the original producer (Ski). So much anticipation for this album, and when I hear it, it’s nothing more than mediocre. Example number 2, I just DLed the new Souls of Mischief album called Montezuma’s Revenge and was in high hopes because they even changed their name to the original and cleared the Hieroglyphics identity. I did a run through and noticed, just like Another Heist, that they went in a direction that didn’t seem to fit their standard. I understand there’s a new generation, but because these groups were coming back I was expecting a rebirth of the old school feel.
Anticipation at its best, and yet fails to retain its excitement. My two cents have been thrown in, and just hope maybe there will be some kind of revival of this old school hip hop.
P.S.
Did a run through of Timbaland’s Shock Value II and homeboy is a major sell out, that is all.
